Hey there,
If youâve been following the saga of our 1860s house renovation, hereâs the latest: the new kitchen is plastered and ready for painting. Sounds great, right? Iâd forgotten how physically hard it is to paint a large room. I can just about reach the top of our 14-foot walls with an extension pole, and after giving them a first coat, I was fairly sure my arms had detached from my body. I need to get back to the gym, because at my age, losing muscle is no joke.
Next up: laying tiles, and then our new IKEA kitchen gets delivered. One paint-splattered disaster at a time.
Whatâs on the Desk
Spirit Elfen is LIVE. Itâs on Amazon right now, and you have no idea how good it feels to finally say that.
If youâve been following the Spirit Walker series from the start, Spirit Elfen picks up right where Spirit Hunger left off. New magic, old lies, and a love interest who… well. Youâll see. đ
And the final book, Spirit Warrior, is in edits right now. Iâm hoping to have it done in about four weeks, and Iâll be posting excerpts and teasers along the way.
New here? Start with the first book in the series â itâs free.
Grab Spirit Hunger for FreeWriting Through the Veil
I started a Substack called Writing Through the Veil. Itâs where I dig into the folklore behind these books, the decisions I had to make about my craft and the plot, and the real places that became the settings.
Recent example: I rewrote an entire novel because I didnât like what my heroine was telling me. Characters have a way of finding their own voice, which sounds mental, but thatâs how writers think. If you want the behind-the-curtain stuff, thatâs your spot.
Have you grabbed Spirit Elfen yet? Hit reply and tell me which scene wrecked you.
If you enjoyed this, forward it to a friend whoâd sell their soul for dark PNR.
Until next time, xo Ella

Whatâs the only thing worse than being stuck haunting a share house?
Elle is dead, stuck haunting her share house with nothing but a crush on a housemate who literally doesnât know she exists. When a new resident moves in (one who happens to be a medium, even if he doesnât quite know it yet), she finally has a chance at being seen.
But the more Ethan uncovers about Elle, the more he suspects her death was no accident. Donât Fade Away is a spooky ghost story with humor, romance, and a mystery that sneaks up on you.
